Co-washing Your Hair!

What exactly is cowashing your hair? It is simply washing the hair with conditioner only! The point of cowashing is to give your hair a midweek picker upper in between washes. Conditioning your is one of the single most important things you should do when trying to maintain healthy looking and feeling hair.

I picked up on cowashing at the beginning of this year from various hair boards and YouTube videos, so I implemented it into my hair routine. I used this technique for a few months before I decided that it was not a good match for me! Everyone's hair is different but I just noticed that when I washed, deep conditioned AND cowashed all in one week that my hairs' natural oils were unable to thrive. I now wash and condition my hair once a week or every other week to allow my hair to thrive on its own.

(If cowashing is something that intrigues you, you should definitely use a drugstore brand of conditioner as you will be using it A LOT! The brand that I was using was the VO5 Moisture Milks. These are very wallet friendly as I got most of mine for less than a $1 at CVS Pharmacy wit my CVS extra care card!)

New Hair Regimen!

I have decided that I want to grow my hair even longer than it already is, therefore I need a new regimen to get me there! My hair is in pretty good shape in general but I'd like more length. I have noticed that since July of last year my length is not the same as in the below picture, so here is what I am going to be doing in addition to some of the things I already do to gain some more length. See previous hair posts here and there!

July 2010                                                                                                  March 2011
I had some split ends that I HAD to get rid of!! (My hair was also just blow dried in the July picture so it looks a lot thicker, the March picture is flat ironed) My goal is to have my hair right above my tush, so I have about 6-8 inches to go!

Every six to eight weeks:
Apply a no-lye relaxer

Weekly:
Shampoo and deep condition
Co-wash (washing the hair with only conditioner)
Moisture and seal every other day (applying a moisturizer and sealing in the moisture with an oil)
Overnight hair masque

Time Flies!

WOW! Almost four months have past and I have not blogged! How dare I! Well I am back and better than ever! 2011 has had a great start for me so far and only better things are to come (you have to will it to happen, speak it into existence!) Stay tuned! I promise I won't leave you again! :)

My Christmas List!

Since Black Friday is only a few days away, I thought I would give you guys a sneak peek of Tye's Christmas List! I have never been big on Christmas list but I am this year! It's rather short and simple, here it goes!

Chloe fragrance (I've been wanted this for the past 5 years but it's $110, not sure if I can justify that!)

Black apparel; tops, bottoms, leggings, shoes, etc. Black is my favorite color to wear!

Home decor accents; kitchen towels, rugs, portraits, etc. I LOVE interior design!

And if you're still stuck, a simple gift card will do the trick!

Intimacy

We've all heard it, "65% of women have never been fitted for lingerie; 85% are wearing the wrong size; and 47% don't know what styles compliment their body type." As I was browsing the latest issue of Genlux magazine (my ultimate favorite fashion mag!) and I see a small article about a shop called Intimacy at the Westfield Century City mall in Century City (CA). This lingerie shop specializes in helping women of all shapes and sizes who are a 'bit green' when it comes to under garments, find the perfect styles specifically for them. With over 90 bra sizes to offer their clients, The Bra Fit Specialists have already appeared on both The Oprah Show and Tyra Banks Show and have 13 stores throughout the US.
I am definitely making a stop to Intimacy a priority in the near future! Every girls' intimacy drawer could always use some updating!

Tom Ford's New Womenswear Collection

How many Tom Ford fans do we have out there?! I have always loved his signature eyewear but I was never too familiar with his womenswear, partly because it has been MIA for the last six years. Mr. Ford is back and with a vengeance! He is relaunching his womenswear line Spring 2011 and it is nothing short of pure amazement! Can't wait to see the entire collection!

P.S Tom Ford is also opening up a huge store here in Beverly Hills as a part of this launch!

Thanksgiving is Upon Us!

Boy, this year has just flew by right in front of my eyes! I can't believe that Thanksgiving is a little over a week away! What kinds of plans do you all have? I am very pleased to say that this will be my first year in three years that I will NOT be alone! I am enjoying Thanksgiving with some new found friends! It is always good to be surrounded by people whom you love and care for, and for the past few years I haven't had that!

Now my priority is trying to come up with new recipes of fun things to make! Here are a few ideas that I found via Betty Crocker!

Apple Crostadas

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Pie

Pear Cranberry Crisp

Turkey Cookies

Turkey Cupcake (via Nellie Cakes)

These are such great (and cute) ideas! I'll let you guys make the decision for me! Which one should I choose?

Sex Is So Casual...Or Am I Just A Prude?

After doing some late night online reading of Cosmopolitan's Sex and Love section, I've come to realize that I am very old fashioned when it comes to sex. Sex is a topic that I just choose not to discuss publicly! Yes I am indeed a prude! I have never been one to wear my sexuality on my sleeve. Give yourself some mystery, don't be an open book about it. So when I read articles about sex I find then intriguing and surprising at the same time. People these days are just so causal about it! I have NEVER thought of sex to be a casual wam-bam-thank-ya-ma'am type of thing! It really boggles my mind! Just saying the word 'sex' makes me blush a little!

Not to say that I don't talk about the subject with my mother, grandmother, and best friends, etc, but those are private and tasteful conversations. The whole world, Facebook and Twitter does not need to know about your sexual dealings. Even your friends and family shouldn't know EVERYTHING! I am an extremely private person and when (which is practically never) I am with someone our business is our business. I would cringe at the thought of him running and telling all of his friends what we talk about, what we do, where we go, etc.

I do love Cosmopolitan for their straight forwardness about the subject of sex, but I'll leave all of the sexual verbiage to them, while I take notes!!
